Setanta offering PayPerView for All Ireland

Update 6/7/2013 : this service no longer seems to work. Setanta’s offering for GAA is covered here http://www.setanta.com/ie/gaa. They offered this PayPerView for GAA in 2012 for a test, which now seems to be discontinued. We had added some information on other ways to watch GAA online.

Some interesting news comes this week, if you are outside Ireland, USA, Canada or Australia. Setanta Sports have a new offering with the online video streaming website, UStream.TV. They have a number of the games available to watch for free including the U21s, Intermediate and Senior Camogie games, while the Senior Hurling and Football All Ireland games, like Mayo versus Donegal next weekend, come at a cost. It seems that each of the premium games will cost $9.99 to watch. It’s not clear if you only have to pay once to watch the games, but we think it’s per game. See below for the full schedule.

Priced at $9.99 or about €7.60, it is a bit dear to watch 70 minutes of hurling or football. We are sure it will be of interest to some of our readers looking for a fully legal way to watch the All Irelands from abroad. The reason for the exclusion in the United States, Canada & Australia is due to existing online licensing rights. And if you are in Ireland you can already watch RTE online to see all of these games, for free.

It’s not just the live games that are shown, you will also be able to watch the post match analysis show The Sunday Game also online.

Here is their press release :

Our dedicated GAA channel is the first of its kind in the available territories and ensures that GAA fans living abroad don’t miss out on any GAA action. Users can avail of our service by purchasing individual matches or alternatively a season long pass, of which was very popular with GAA fans earlier in the season.

We are delighted to announce that we will be broadcasting this weekend’s live GAA matches completely free for users in the available territories.
