Scotshost & RTE Player problems

For the latest status’ please check our DNS Status Page.

As per this update from Scotshost, the owner of IrishProxyServer.com, we’ve updated our list of recommended proxies. It appears that there is some IP block imposed by RTÉ on the VPN provider and it’s no longer possible to access RTE Player via their service. This means that currently only Overplay.net are offering a sustainable Irish proxy / VPN.
In their announcement they say

We are aware that customers appear to be having problems using certain RTE.ie websites.

Obviously these service are not provided directly by us and we cannot speak for what any third party websites do with their technology. However, we do understand that their service currently blocks VPN and Proxy users from accessing Ireland Only content. We can only apologise to our Irish based customers who are affected by this VPN and Proxy blocking but assure you the matter is entirely outside of our control.

Maybe this is a move by RTE to stop proxies letting people access their services outside of Ireland. If you are experiencing any issues with any of our recommended proxies please let us know and we will update our list.
